<p>During the holiday season, this can be particularly difficult. Office parties, after work parties, get togethers with friends and families can be difficult if you are struggling with your weight. <p>Obviously, just plowing through all the temptations with superhuman willpower is the best long term solution. In fact, if you do choose this option, many people will get angry at you, because it will make them feel even more guilty.</p>
<p>Another way to handle this is to prepare yourself before you encounter any temptation. Drink lots of water, snack on low calorie foods that fill you up. This requires looking at cookies and cakes as the enemy, which can be hard to do when your sweet ninety-seven year old neighbor brings over bowl of homemade cookies.</p>
<p>The third and most popular option is my favorite. Forget everything, and eat all you want. Enjoy yourself. Wait until after the holidays and start your diet then. The benefits of this, of course, is it&#8217;s the most fun. The drawback is that in a couple months you will have to pay the piper.</p>
<p>What may be the most sensible thing to do is to combine these strategies into a plan that works best for you. Maybe allow yourself on or two events to really let yourself loose and eat an drink like there&#8217;s no tomorrow. That way, you can have your cake, and eat it as well.</p>
