One reason is the Mediterranean diet has a fair amount of fish in it. This is further held up by the fact that Eskimos also are apt to have high HDL cholesterol. They also eat a lot of cold water, fatty fish. These fish tend to be very high in omega-3 fatty acids. You might not want to eat halibut or tuna every day, but you can take fish oil supplements. In addition, fish oil has been shown to have a very good positive effect on lowering triglycerides, risk of death from heart disease, stroke, and abnormal heart rhythms. Fish-oil has also been proven to help mitigate and treat hardening of the arteries through slowing the development of plaque and blood clots.</p>
<p>In other words, fish-oil, which contains considerable amounts of EPA and DHA, is really healthy for you. Since with DHA you get a double whammy effect of helping your heart and brain, you probably want to take into consideration DHA supplements in what you eat. You also know how quickly adverse reactions can occur, and how serious they may become. No matter how careful you are, allergens can be found in products where you least expect them. One of the benefits of allergy free foods is knowing precisely what you are getting in the products you eat.</p>
<p>Estimates are that around 2 percent of adults and from 4 to 8 percent of babies and children are sensitive to one or more food allergens. In recent years it seems that these numbers are increasing for young people. Visits to emergency rooms for severe food allergic reactions number around 30,000 each year for Americans. From these figures, it seems obvious that the more closely one can control the quality of one&#8217;s food with regards to allergens, the better.</p>
<p>It often takes only a few minutes, and almost always less than an hour, for an adverse reaction to a food allergen to occur. The reaction may be minor, such as an itching of the mouth or on other parts of the body, or severe enough to cause death if not treated immediately, as in anaphylactic shock. There is no way to cure food allergies, though children, and sometimes adults, do outgrow them with time.</p>
<p>There are eight substances that are responsible for ninety percent of all food allergic reactions. They are milk, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat. Some foods, such as fish or shellfish, may be easier to avoid than others which are used as ingredients in other foods. Milk, egg, soy and wheat are extensively found in a variety of processed foods. Peanuts are also used in many other foods, such as Asian sauces and candy, and can cause a severe reaction in those sensitive to them.</p>
<p>An important United States law was passed in 2004, known as FALCPA. This act required food companies to clearly state on their labels if the product includes any of the 8 major allergy-causing substances. However, the law did not require the manufacturers to include information regarding possible cross-contamination of foods processed by equipment used for several different types of foods, perhaps including known allergens.</p>
<p>While some food manufacturers do include such cross-contact information on their labels, there may still be risk associated with buying foods produced for the general population. Sometimes only a minute amount of a food allergen is needed for someone to have a severe reaction to it. Foods produced specifically for food allergy sufferers have a greater probability of being safe to consume.</p>
<p>When in doubt about the safety of a particular food with regard to allergens, one can contact the manufacturer with questions concerning ingredients or cross-contamination. Foods produced by companies focused on allergen-free products may provide a higher degree of assurance that their foods are safe. One of the benefits of allergy free foods is, along with physical safety, greater peace of mind in knowing that you and your family are at lower risk for food allergic reactions.</p>

<p>1. Eat complete nutrition from all the food groups: Excluding food groups is a sure fire way to stress your body until it gets sick. Because of the way food groups interact with each other, you can&#8217;t single them out and expect to stay healthy.</p>
<p>2. Don&#8217;t lose weight too quickly: If the weight is flying off it&#8217;s probably not fat. It&#8217;s a mix of fat and muscle. And if you are breaking down muscle for energy, your body will enter a very negative state in terms of immunity.</p>
<p>3. Stay very clean: Most people are unaware that their bodies are under a constant state of war against germs. This is always happening even if you don&#8217;t feel sick. And by staying super clean, you give your body a break so that it can have more resources for repair and recovery.</p>
<p>4. Don&#8217;t forget about your flu shot: It takes a couple minutes to get a flu shot and it can save you weeks of agonizing pain. And if you have an acute fear of needles, simply ask your doctor or nurse to rub the site of injection for at least a minute to numb the area.</p>
<p>5. Have a pre workout snack: Eating some carbs before you exercise is a great way to not only burn more fat, but to reduce levels of stress hormones. Exercising on an empty stomach is a horrible idea that will compromise intensity, recovery and immune health.</p>
<p>6. Have carbohydrates immediately after exercise: You need to do this for two reasons. First, you want to take advantage of your body&#8217;s ability to suck up extra carbs during the short post workout window. Second, the carbs will bring down exercise-induced stress hormones that reduce your immunity.</p>
<p>7. Take light symptoms seriously: You need to rest even if you have mild symptoms of impending sickness. Stay away from heavy training if you have a runny nose, body aches or any pains. Your body can only handle so much stress.</p>
