A foosball table is a small game that is in part based on association football. The toy, also called table-top football, was created by one Harold Searles Thornton in mid 1922. Harold’s idea for the hit game was his full on support of British soccer teams and he wanted to make a tinier version that could be enjoyed at home. After a few years, his American uncle took foosball to the states where it was embraced full on.

Foosball generally consists of just eight spaced out rows of players, made of plastic or wood, who are mounted on bars. Teams of one to two players compete against each other, although there are some tables that can accommodate more. The game’s goal is to use the handles on the bars to control you soccer team and beat your opponent in goals. The teams each control attack players, midfield, defense, and one goalie.

Table foosball toys are very popular fixtures too. Having one in the house makes sure that you and your guests will never need to fret about getting bored. And aside from their boredom combating value, the games are also cherished decoration pieces. The various hues, shapes, and types of football tables makes sure that you’ll be able to locate one that goes with your house’s decorating scheme. The older football games are especially sought after with enthusiasts or collectors. If you’re lucky enough to have one of these games, be sure and take extra care of it.

Unfortunately, these objects are prone to a bit of tear and wear and occasionally will require a little bit of maintenance. You will need to, first, take the playing field apart. You will have to unscrew the metal bars holding the players up. Later, to help jog your memory about where everything goes, take a few pictures of the field beforehand.

Next, you will have to check the moving pieces of the game for damage. The players, whether they are made of wood or plastic, will require a cleaning and maybe a coat of paint or so. The game’s other aspects, the ball and the playing field, will require some paint also.

If one or more of the players is damaged beyond repair, you will have to order new ones. Many hobby shops and specialty websites sell replacement parts and cleaning supplies aimed at foosball tables. These include replacement balls, rubber bumpers, stop rings, and goalie nets. If any part of the game can’t be repaired, you can consider replacing them altogether.

You’ll need to pay attention to the bottom and legs of the table to determine if the areas will require maintenance as well. If the legs look wobbly or loose, you will have to replace or tighten them up. And the bottom may need some reinforcing or sanding, depending on its state.

After all the upkeep is through and the paint has thoroughly dried, you can complete the revamping project by putting the fixture back together. With the picture you took befor, put the toy’s soccer field back together and reinstall its players. Then, all that is left is to begin enjoying your game once again.
