Every one of us already has the ability to astral project. Many people astral project without being aware of it. However, it is learning to control the experience while astral projecting which is important and is what we will be discussing here.

You probably already know about the astral body and the astral plane, so we\’ll jump right into techniques which can assist you in your efforts to learn how to astral project. Different people do better using different methods, so you\’ll probably want to try out a few until you hit on one which gets good results for you.

There is one technique which you can practice as you\’re lying in bed about to go to sleep. There are five steps to this method.

*First; relax your body completely, trying to achieve a state of deep relaxation throughout your body. While you\’re lying there, tense and then release all of your muscles, starting from your toes and working your way towards your head. You may start feeling very heavy; this is natural and indicates deep physical relaxation.

*Second; Breathe slowly and deeply. This is something which is done while meditating. Focus on the sensation of the air moving through your lungs. Exhale as slowly as you inhale, imagining your stress floating away with each exhalation. Try not to fall asleep as you do this, though you may need to try this a few times before you can remain awake during this step.

*Third; Focus on the relaxed, heavy way your physical body feels. It probably feels like a heavy lump of clay or a slab of stone. Now turn your focus to the way that your astral body feels weightless and able to float free of your physical body. Imagine your astral body drifting upwards from the bed.

*Fourth; Now you may have the experience of being able to see perfectly well in your darkened room which should now be illuminated by a purple light; even though your eyes are closed! Turn your attention to the light which is coming from your ceiling.

*Fifth; Try to visualize pulling this light to your astral body. You\’ll feel like you\’re floating; this is your astral body floating above your physical body. Just look down and you\’ll be able to see your bed with your physical body at rest below.

If you\’ve been able to make it through all of these steps, you\’ve done it! You can now depart on astral travels. If you can\’t astral project this way, there\’s another method which you can try.

This is called the gazing method and is used by many when learning how to astral project. It\’s a very simple method where you focus your complete attention on an object. This can be anything as long as its within your line of sight while you lie in bed.

Gaze at this object and stay focused on it. Eventually, your eyelids will become too heavy to keep open; but if you\’ve succeeded you\’ll still be able to see this object in front of you. Continue to gaze at it until you feel an urge to stand up. When you do, you\’ll see your physical body lying in bed asleep! Don\’t be alarmed; this means you\’ve succeeded and can begin to astral travel.

If you aren\’t immediately successful with these techniques, don\’t give up. There are other ways to astral project, though any technique can take some practice. Be persistent and you will learn how to astral project before too long.

What\’s really important isn\’t how you get there, but that you can overcome your subconscious skepticism about astral projection. You have to repeat to your subconscious that there\’s nothing to worry about and it\’s OK for your astral body to leave on its travels. You can use affirmations to communicate this to your subconscious.

Plenty of techniques can help you learn how to astral travel; you\’ll find the right one for you with a little practice and possibly some trial and error.

Hypnosis is useful for many, since it can easily produce the deeply relaxed state needed. A guided hypnosis session is especially helpful, since you\’ll have an expert to explain every step along the way.

New audio technology has enabled something called binaural beats which can produce a relaxed, meditative state using slightly different frequencies in each ear. A lot of people find binaural beats to make it easy to astral project.

Learning how to astral project isn\’t actually that difficult. It\’s really just about practicing. This is an ability which every man and woman already possesses; it just takes a little work and a little patience to learn to do it at will. Just like being able to read, it\’s something you\’re born with the capacity to do; but you do need to practice to become expert in it.
